What makes our local inn stand out is its rich history, breathtaking setting and commitment to providing a personalized, intimate experience for everyone who walks through our doors. Chestnut Hill on the Delaware was built in 1860 by Wilson Thomas for his bride, Lizzie. Now maintained by only three families over time, we continue to provide this same magical experience at our historic inn.


Our hidden gem was named the Most Romantic Inn in New Jersey (2024) and recognized as one of the Best On The Water Businesses. Whether you’re here for a quiet weekend or a special occasion, we invite you to experience everything we have to offer you.

Our offerings

Chestnut Hill on the Delaware provides a setting that feels like home, only better. Our accommodations are designed to suit different types of travelers. We have two houses that sit side by side:

Country Inn & Lodging: A historic country inn with a Victorian charm, Country Inn & Lodging invites guests to step into the charm of the 1860s with its beautifully preserved drawing room, parlor and dining area.


All-Suites: This cottage inn offers two all-suite apartments with kitchens for guests who prefer total privacy.
